About this artwork:

The women depicted in this work carry invisible burdens, resilient and strong. Never quite knowing what the other is carrying. It is about the unrealistic expectations set for women to keep up appearances of having it all together.

This piece was inspired by historical maiden heads found on tall sailing ships. These maiden heads were crafted to provide hope and comfort to the sailors and passengers on long treacherous journeys. I love this piece for it’s art deco feel and layers of meaning.
